Atlanta Dairies
777 Memorial Drive Southeast, Atlanta, GA, USA
About the Property
The Atlanta Dairies cooperative, which began its journey in 1941, has a rich and evolving history. Established at its permanent location in 1949, it became a staple in Southeast Atlanta, serving the community with dairy products. Over the decades, the building adapted to various roles, including housing a laundry company and an ice cream parlor. After Parmalat Dairies took over in 1993, the building continued to be a center of local industry until the 2008 tornado dealt a severe blow, leading to Parmalat’s closure and leaving the once-bustling site vacant.
In the 2010’s new life was brought into the site as a reimagined, mixed-use community space. The efforts resulted in a vibrant development that includes commercial office space, shops, restaurants, a brewery, and a music venue. Thus, while the original purpose of dairy processing has become a thing of the past, the Atlanta Dairies continues to thrive, serving as a dynamic hub for the city’s contemporary needs.
